A sequence of prints that uses the press bed, (the surface onto which a printing matrix/plate is normally placed in order to be printed), as its own self contained printing surface. Inked (intaglio) impressions are taken directly off the machined metal bed of printing presses – metal surfaces inscribed by industrial process, by use and chance.
In a sense, these are prints where the press prints itself - a kind of circular identity seeking to transcend itself.
