An ongoing series of prints begun in 1998 that uses the press bed, (the surface onto which a printing matrix/plate is normally placed in order to be printed), as its own self contained printing surface. Inked (intaglio) impressions are taken directly off the machined metal beds of various printing presses – metal surfaces inscribed by industrial process, by use and chance.
In a sense, these are prints where the press prints itself - a kind of circular identity seeking to transcend itself.
